He took me spinning in his fancy cars He taught me strumming on Balinese guitars But then I noticed out of all he said He never mentioned love. He had me laughing on a Ferris wheel A childish moment set my heart a-reel And then he kissed me and he talked a lot But never mentioned love Round and round and round my heart went Just like on a carousel If this was the love that god sent, what could I do? I fell, well He left me broken Every dream I had was left unspoken Just as he had come he gave no warning And was gone again and never mentioned love He never even mentioned love

Round, Like a circle in a spiral Like a wheel within a wheel, Never ending or beginning, On an ever-spinning reel Like a snowball down a mountain, Or a carnival balloon Like a carousel that's turning Running rings around the moon Like a clock whose hands are sweeping Past the minutes of its face And the world is like an apple Spinning silently in space Like the circles that you find In the windmills of your mind! Like a tunnel that you follow To a tunnel of its own Down a hollow to a cavern Where the sun has never shone Like a door that keeps revolving In a half-forgotten dream Or the ripples from a pebble Someone tosses in a stream. Like a clock whose hands are sweeping Past the minutes of its face And the world is like an apple Whirling silently in space Like the circles that you find In the windmills of your mind! Keys that jingle in your pocket Words that jangle in your head Why did summer go so quickly? Was it something that you said? Lovers walk along a shore And leave their footprints in the sand Was the sound of distant drumming Just the fingers of your hand? Pictures hanging in a hallway or the fragment of a song, half-remembered names and faces but to whom do they belong? When you knew that it was over You were suddenly aware That the autumn leaves were turning To the color of his hair? Like a circle in a spiral Like a wheel within a wheel Never ending or beginning On an ever-spinning reel As the images unwind Like the circles that you find In the windmills of your mind

Just for a thrill, You changed the sunshine to rain, Just for a thrill, You filled my heart with pain To me you were my pride and joy But to you I was merely a toy ..a plaything That you could toss around at will Just for a thrill You made my life one sad song Just for a thrill.. you just led me along Although you're free...havin' your fun To me you're still the only one Cos you made my heart stand still.....and it was just for the thrill. Just for a thrill You made my life one...sad ....song Just for a thrill You just led me along The thought of you gave my heart wings But to you...it was just.... One of those things You made my heart stand still....and it was....... Just for a thrill.

Spain 06:43
Yesterday, just a photograph of yesterday And all its edges folded and the corners faded, sepia brown And yet it's all I have of our past love A postscript to its ending Brighter days, I can see such brighter days When every song we sang is sung again And now we know it's for good This time for good And we're lovers once again And you're near me I can remember the rain in December The leaves are brown on the ground In Spain I did love and adore you The nights filled with joy were our yesterdays And tomorrow will bring you near me I can recall my desire, every reverie is on fire And I got a picture of all our yesterdays Yesterday, I can say. I got a kick every time I see That Spain again I can remember the rain in December The leaves are brown on the ground Our love was a Spanish fiesta The bright lights and songs were our joy each day And the nights were the heat of yearning I can recall my desire, every reverie is on fire And I got a picture of all our yesterdays Yesterday, I can say. I got a kick every time I see You gaze at me I see moments of history Your eyes meet mine And they dance to the melody And we live again, as if dreaming The sound of our hearts beat like castanets And forever we know their meaning

One day we walked along the sand One day in early spring You held a piper in your hand To mend its broken wing Now I'll remember many a day And many a lonely mile The echo of a piper's song The shadow of a smile The shadow of your smile When you are gone Will color all my dreams And light the dawn Look into my eyes My love and see All the lovely things You are to me Our wistful little star Was far too high A teardrop kissed your lips And so did I Now when I remember spring All the joy that love can bring I will be remembering The shadow of your smile
6.
And when October goes The snow begins to fly Above the smoky roofs I watch the planes go by The children running home beneath A twilight sky Oh, for the fun of them When I was one of them And when October goes The same old dream appears And you are in my arms To share the happy years I turn my head away to hide The helpless tears Oh, how I hate to see October go And when October goes The same old dream appears And you are in my arms To share the happy years I turn my head away to hide The helpless tears Oh, how I hate to see October go I should be over it now, I know It doesn't matter much how old I grow I hate to see October go
7.
Come to me high Come to me restless Come to me cold Come to me helpless Defenseless When you're on your own (When you're alone in your room) Heaven is here at your call But, darling, love is just One of those things you have to ask for Come to me high Come to me restless Come to me cold Come to me helpless Defenceless When you're on your own I see there on your own Just like the sun, can't touch the moon Give me what I've given to me And forget the way down Forget the way down
8.
So these are the ropes The tricks of the trade The rules of the road You're one of the dopes For whom they were made The rules of the road You follow that kiss And recklessly miss A bend of the road Then suddenly this The end of the road So love is a hoax A glittering string Of little white lies But these are the jokes And what if they bring The tears to your eyes Well love often shows a funny return The brighter it glows The longer you burn And Lord only knows Love has little concern For the fools of the road But, that's how it goes You live and you learn The rules of the road
